Introduction to Basic Retriever Skills
​
Litchfield Ohio Property (20 minutes from MKC)

April 10rd- May 1st - $50.00,  6:30PM
Maximum of 8 trainers
Minimum age of the dogs – 4 months
 
The goal of these sessions is to introduce trainers and dogs to basic skills needed for hunting and hunt tests.  If you want to enroll in a summer training session participation in this class is strongly encouraged.
 These skills will include
  • Basic obedience - Heel, come, sit
  • Hold
  • Force-fetch
  • Intro to collar conditioning
Classes will be held indoors so will not be affected by weather. 

​Introduction to Retriever Training( 2 sessions)

The goal of the course is to introduce handlers and dogs to the skills needed for AKC Junior Hunter tests / UKC Started tests.  Basic obedience skills (heel, come, sit) and basic retrieving are needed before starting the course.
 
These skills will include
  • Basic Obedience
  • Marking
  • Retrieving
  • Hold / retrieve to hand
  • Introduction to gunshot
  • Introduction to birds
  • Introduction to water
 
The majority of the skills will be introduced on land.  Water should be available to use for 1 or 2 of the later training days.
 
Sessions will occur rain or shine (with the exception of active thunderstorms!)
